Gig 'Em Aggies!

We took Freweini to College Station today for her first college experience.  She loved it!  We had a full day:  first, we met Uncle Carl and Aunt Vickie at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bryan for the 11 am service.  The rector there, Sean Cox, happens to be a Navy Chaplain that works with Will.  Then, we followed Uncle Carl and Aunt Vickie to their trailer - 5th wheel that they leave at an RV park in Bryan for the length of football season at Texas A&M.  What a sweet set up!  Then, we headed to the Texas A&M campus and Spence Park to have a family BBQ with Outfit H-1.  Chase, Will's nephew, is in his  first year at Aggieland and has joined the Corps of Cadets - whoop!  We met some of his upperclassmen and lots of fish parents.  What a super group!  Then, we went to March In - where the Corps forms at the Quad and follows the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band into Kyle Field.

Then, finally, the football game - TAMU vs. SMU.  We were in the 3rd level of the Zone - right at mid field and had a grand view of the whole field and the giant television screen (thanks to Will's brother, John, for the tickets!).  We didn't miss a thing.  Freweini really got into the yells and her favorite is, "AAAAAAAAAAA, Gig 'Em, Aggies!".  We sat in front of some Ags whose friend had graduated from SMU (actually, he was the quarterback in 2005-2006).  Freweini would turn around periodically and tell him, "Aggies in front.  Ponies in the back" - that's her way of saying that the Aggies were winning.  He was a fantastic sport.....
Did I tell you Will had never been to Aggieland, either?  Well, it was a day for him to experience the best a college and its community has to offer.  Hopefully, he understands that it's not so much a cult, but a culture all its own!
